OpenAI To Become A Reddit Advertising Partner
The firms announced on Thursday that OpenAI has committed to become a Reddit advertising partner. In addition to working with Reddit to deliver its content to ChatGPT and other products.
There wasn’t much information available to describe the terms of this advertising collaboration. Although it is only logical to infer from the statement that OpenAI will run ads on Reddit, it would be best if the AI startup started advising Reddit on more advanced AI ad solutions.
According to Reddit co-founder and CEO Steve Huffman, “Reddit has grown into one of the internet’s largest open archives of authentic, relevant, and always up-to-date human discussions about anything and everything.” “Adding it to ChatGPT supports our vision of a connected internet, facilitates users in finding additional information or what they’re searching for, and introduces Reddit to new audiences as a community.
Reddit may now offer AI-powered functionality to moderators and Redditors thanks to this agreement. Reddit will leverage OpenAI’s AI model platform to realize its ambitious goals, as stated in a blog post by the firm.
OpenAI will help users find and interact with Reddit communities by integrating improved Reddit content into ChatGPT and new products. The business announced that it will have access to Reddit’s Data API, which offers distinct, real-time, and structured content from Reddit. This will improve the ability of its AI systems to comprehend and present Reddit material, particularly on hot-button issues.
Sam Altman, the CEO and co-founder of OpenAI, is one of the biggest Reddit shareholders, owning an 8.7% stake, since Reddit underwent its initial public offering.
Businesses involved in AI have been racing to sign deals for data so they can train models. According to reports, Google has committed to paying News Corp, the company that owns The Wall Street Journal, up to $6 million a year to create new AI-related products and content. OpenAI and Dotdash Meredith, owned by IAC and publisher of People, Food & Wine, among other titles, announced a partnership earlier this month.
